Important announcement about Plaza Wednesday

With the increase of films now being released on a Wednesday the Plaza has made the decision that any new feature film being released will be charged at full price and then will return back to the discount price the following week.

New releases help support the Plaza with revenue that we then reinvest into the cinema to bring you the best community cinema experience we can. We hope you can understand why we have made the decision.

We still believe in offering the best value in Merseyside and even for a new release film, this is still the best priced ticket in Liverpool.

Fair enough guys! The cheap Wednesday is an exceptional deal so no problems having to pay full price for a new release. I fully support the work you all do for our little gem of a cinema, keep up the great work

I also fully support your decision.
We are so very lucky to have such an amazing cinema right on our doorstep that is such good value for money anyway.
Keep up the excellent work ??

I went to the showcase cinema and the prices was very high just for the two of us, but when I looked up the plaza prices I was surprised how cheap it was. My first time going the plaza cinema the staff were great polite. therefore I will be going next Wednesday to see angry birds the movie.

      Fair enough!
Full Plaza price is still a bargain!
And the cinema gets better and better.

Totally fair, and good to invest in the cinema. It is also good to encourage people to go at quiet times, or try out less popular movies. For some new movies the first wednesday showing is very busy and the volunteers can get a little swamped. The customers can get annoyed at the queues. Balancing the viewing numbers will be good for everyone.

I just think you need to make it really clear on the web site which showings are at a discount. Unless I check every week how do I know if a film is in it’s first week? How do I know if a showing is counted as a saturday matinee or saturday evening? Complex pricing is totally fine as long as people aren’t surprised by higher ticket prices when they turn up at the cinema. This will just cause bad feelings.

    Great work, keep it up!

I am happy to support this fab cinema

Not a problem and fully supported. Wednesday is a bargain. But then the rest if the week is too. My mum loves this place.

I travel from South Liverpool on a regular basis to enjoy this unique cinema. It is completely sensible and responsible to have standard pricing for the busiest nights when it is a blockbuster/new release. The cinema has to generate revenue for it to be a sustainable comunity cinema and the pricing is very reasonable as it stands and has yet to be rivalled on Merseyside even by the magnanimous Woolton cinema. However, I agree with Dave that the pricing should be clearly stated on the website beforehand and that the Plaza should consider lowering the prices at other times accordingly.

  6. Ste says:

Simply the best value cinema on merseyside “well done to all the staff”, if only our government was this organised.

  7. George says:

I prefer having the one price. If a show can be put on for £x then it shouldn’t be put on at other times for £x+1. The logic here though is the often young volunteers who have to manage through the rush should not have too much pressure on them. Someone said earlier though how do you differentiate between a newly released movies and something that is a week or so old? A clarification on the website would be useful.
