Dementia Friendly Screening | Calamity Jane

No longer showing

Doris Day and Howard Keel fuss, feud and fall in love as Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok. At first curvaceous Calamity is too durned busy fighting Indians and cracking a bullwhip to pay mind to such girlie what-alls as dresses and perfume. She soon changes her mind when Katie Brown arrives in town.

We will maintain a low level of lighting throughout the screening and can adjust the volume on the film, to suit the needs of the audience. Visitors will be supported by Dementia Friends trained staff.

There will be an interval half way through the film for tea, coffee and biscuits to be served. This is included in the admission price of £4.

Hello there, so happy you are doing this. Just a comment on the advertising poster re the information. The second largest lettering and in capitals states “FREE ADMISSION & REFRESHMENTS” then a dash and in smaller lettering, not in capitals states “Launch Event” I feel this makes it unclear that you have to pay to watch the film I therefore feel anyone who arrives with dementia should be allowed FREE ADMISSION & REFRESHMENTS to the film. As this mistake on your poster could make a person with dementia not want to attend again as they had no money with them to pay to get in. It could actually make them not want to go to any social events. Or at least if someone doesn’t appear to have money let them in for free. Or this first event be free for all making it clear future events will be chargeable. I wish you well with this event and hope it is a great success. I may be there myself. Thanks for reading
