Directed by Nigel Cole, Made in Dagenham is a 2010 British film. Telling the story of the Ford sewing machinists strike of 1968 and the women’s fight for equal pay. The women strikers achieve their aim and ultimately their action leads to the passing of the Equal Pay Act in 1970.
The film’s theme song, ‘Made in Dagenham’ with lyrics by Billy Bragg, is performed by Sandie Shaw, herself a native of the area and a former clerk at Ford’s Dagenham plant.
The event will take place on Thursday 6th March at 7.30 pm. With special thanks to sponsorship from Sefton UNISON all tickets are FREE.
