90 years on from the General Strike, The Happy Lands follows the journey of law-abiding citizens who become law-breakers in a heroic battle against the state. It’s never a good time to stand up for your rights – but it’s always the right time.
The event is being sponsored by NW UNISON, the film is a joint production by Theatre workshop Scotland (TWS) and the community of Carhill, Fife. TWS worked with the local community, supporting them to research their recent past as well as drawing upon the memories of surviving families who experienced the strike. It was an amazing experience for such a small community, who threw their weight behind the project. Many of them took the part of their grandparents in the film, whilst others were involved in making the sets.
Our special guest is actor Bill Gilby, who will be present on the night to talk about the making of the film and the involvement of the local community.
This special event will be on Tuesday 17th May at 7.30pm and tickets to this event are FREE you can pick them up at the box office now.
