Metropolis w/ Live Piano by Tony Judge

No longer showing

The Plaza Community Cinema is proud to present the 1927 silent movie ‘Metropolis’ with live piano accompaniment by Silent Movie Pianist Tony Judge. The film stars Gustav Frohlich as Freder and Brigitte Helm as the rebellious teacher.

This very influential science-fiction film presents a futuristic type city where beauty and culture exists above a bleak underworld of mistreated workers. When a privileged youth Freder discovers the grim underworld scene under the city he decides to help the mistreated workers. He befriends Maria a rebellious teacher but in doing so finds himself at odds with his father, leading to greater conflict.

Tony Judge entertained Plaza patrons last year with his amazing piano accompaniment during the screening of the 1922 silent film Nosferatu and by popular demand has been asked to perform at the Plaza for an equally influential film Metropolis.

Tony writes all his own scores and his pIano performance is second to none.
